Time indeed flies so fast!
I remember June of last year when I was looking for job opportunities at Jobstreet, then I saw that JFC is looking for accountants. I hesitated at first thinking JFC is one of the biggest companies in the country, and I had my doubts that it would hire a fresh college graduate. But I did try. I passed my resume online. I didn’t raise my hopes though. I also applied for San Miguel and IBM.
After few days, a guy named MIGUEL BONGATO texted me, inviting me for an interview at Jollibee. He told me to look for Ms. Bea Anonas.
I remember then, I always took off at Megamall and still walk a few blocks from there to my office. It was after a month when I learned that FXs do pass at my building. Booo me! Upon arriving at Jollibee Centre for my first examination, I looked for Ms Bea. I told the receptionist, “I’m here for an interview with Ms. Bea ALONZO”. HAHAHA! The receptionist laughed and asked me: “Did you mean, Ms. Bea Anonas?”. Geeeez. Fail attempt to make an impression! Hahaha!
I took the exam. It was okay. I didn’t know they would make me take an accounting exam though. IT WAS HARD! No choices. Hardest accounting exam I took of all the job examinations I’ve taken! Luckily, after an hour, Sir Miguel, (who was stunned by my beauty HAHAHHA, peace S’ Migs!) told me to go back next week since Ms Bea was on out of town.
Then came my interview with her. She asked me conditional questions which I found very challenging. They’re so out of nowhere! Hahaha. It was very interesting! She recommended me for another interview with my soon-to-be team leader, Ms Alice Huvalla.
When I first saw M’ Alice, the first thing I thought of her was that she’s very sweet and kind. During my interview , I never felt any form of fear. It was a smooth conversation. We were laughing the whole time. I remember her telling me: “I like you”.
Then I got hired!
Fast forward to my first day of work. JULY 01, 2010.
When I was introduced with my soon-to-be colleagues, I was wearing a green long sleeves, black slacks (Mom’s) and black 3-inch high heels shoes. They asked me where I could associate myself and when I told them : FASHION, (with the clothes I’m wearing), they raised eyebrows! Hahaha. After few months, my friends told me that they really didn’t believe I have interest with fashion and modeling since they didn’t see that in me on my first day. Hahaha! At least, the believed me now :p
In my one year in JWS, a lot of things happened. Hurtful, happy, unforgettable moments! Let me share of you some!
BOWLING EXPERIENCE
I joined the bowling tournament and won a GC for having a strike! It was fun though the only ball i could carry was #6!
I GOT DRUNK!
People who knew me know how I hate alcohol and how hard it is for me to convince to have one. It was here when I really got so drunk and did some silly things. A night to FORGET! hahaha!
ISSUES + NEW FRIENDSHIP
Issues are part of the workplace and I am no exception to that. For months, I had a status war with certain people at work. Good thing, it got resolved October last year. New friends <3
SPOOKTACULAR (Halloween Party)
I was chosen to be the head of our department for the Halloween event. We won 1st place and Greenwich GCs worth 5000!
MY 1st BIRTHDAY~
My first time to celebrate my birthday with so many people. Usually kasi, it was just me and my friends and family. (Lagi kasi sem break)
They gave me 30pcs Ferrero Rocher and a cake!
1st Chirstmas Party
Two Christmas parties — one for the whole JWS and another for Financial and Accounting II! I won a washing machine from JWS xmas party raffle and a 1-kilo Delmonte Catsup from F&A2 party. I’m so lucky!
February photo contest
I joined the photo contest for valentine’s day last February and I won as best in composition. They gave me a cake!
These are some of the highlights on my one year at JWS. I hope there coukld be more years to spend with them!
And oh, I must add, starting today, Jollibee will be more eco-friendly! They are now replacing the plastics and styro with paper bags and boxes. Plus, every Friday, they’re not encouraging the use of straws!
